ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FORENSICS: INDIVIDUAL EVENTS
Truman State University seeks a diverse pool of applicants for a full-time, non-tenure-track instructor or assistant professor of communication to begin August 2021. The successful applicant has the possibility of reappointment (9-month contracts), depending on performance, department needs, and funding.
Required Qualifications: This position requires a Masters in Communication, Public Communication or closely related field and experience with competitive Forensics.
Responsibilities: Provide classroom instruction in lower and upper division curriculum; fulfill additional faculty duties including coaching intercollegiate forensics individual events; model the teacher-scholar; mentor students; and provide service to the university and community.

Compensation and Rank : This is an entry-level academic position with salary of $42,000 and rank of Instructor for MA or Assistant Professor for PhD or MFA; benefits package with health insurance, retirement contributions, and some reimbursed assistance for moving expenses. This appointment may be renewed annually upon mutual consent dependent upon the results of the annual review, the needs of the University, and available funding.
Program: The Department of Communication at Truman has 9 full-time faculty members and approximately 120 students in the major program with approximately 40 minors in Communication and Political Communication. The Communication major allows students to choose from three emphases: Communication Studies, Journalism, and Public Communication. The forensics program at Truman State University has had multiple national championships, national finalists, national sweepstakes awards, and state level-champions over the last couple of decades.
