Overview

UW Credit Union is looking for a creative & highly skilled Senior Content Writer to join its marketing team! UWCU’s marketing team is focused on creating meaningful, personalized conversations across multiple online and offline channels. Our goal? To connect and engage individuals with UWCU’s brand and help set them on the path for financial success!

UW Credit Union’s Storytelling team is focused on connecting and engaging members and employees with the UW Credit Union brand. The Senior Content Writer blends editorial and writing skills to plan and develop a variety of content to capture and hold the attention of readers to educate, inform, or tell a story across the UW Credit Union community. The Senior Content Writer works collaboratively across Marketing to bring content from idea to execution across a variety of channels.

Responsibilities

Creative + Content Strategy 40%

  • Develop the brand’s storytelling content strategy across member-facing channels, including digital and print.
  • Develop and manage editorial calendars for various member communication channels.
  • Interpret the goals of communications plans and define positioning to deliver on strategy as defined in assignments.
  • Work with designers to develop overall content + creative concepts for content that fits within brand’s existing CMS templates, ensuring copy and visuals support each other.
  • Present ideas and concepts to key stakeholders, seek and provide constructive feedback.
  • Lead development and maintenance of brand tone, voice and copy guidelines.
  • Monitor and share industry trends and competitor activity related to content and brand positioning.
  • Writing + Content Creation 40%

  • Write and edit articles for website, advertorials, internal communications, planning the structure and flow of information to achieve communication goals.
  • Translate industry-related data, news and topics into engaging stories, using in-depth explanations and descriptions to educate.
  • Understand and integrate SEO best-practices and keywords into engaging web content to drive conversion.
  • Contribute to the accurate definition of project scope, estimates and timelines.
  • Manage to deadlines and ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance for marketing materials.
  • Development and Mentorship 10%

  • Be an advocate for strategic content planning and brand voice development and continually strive to improve our capabilities.
  • Document storytelling content strategy process and standards and mentor/train writing and design teams in executing on strategies.
  • Provide mentoring to, and support onboarding for, new team members.
  • Partner Relationships 10%

  • Partner and collaborate effectively within the Marketing Division and key stakeholders.
  • Support continuous process improvement for the department through documentation and standardization of key processes.
  • Work with local print publications to manage advertorial schedule and deliverables.
  • Qualifications

  • 8-9 years of experience as a Writer/copywriter for B2C audience required (candidates with fewer years of experience can be considered for the Content Writer role)
  • Experience working in a marketing or agency environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Advertising, Marketing, Communication or related field required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong cognitive skills - including problem solving, decision making and analysis, solution-focused 
  • Energetic, flexible, adaptable, creative
  • Highly organized with outstanding attention to detail
  • Strength in building collaborative, positive, productive relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others without direct authority.
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Skilled in writing clear, concise and grammatically correct copy
  • Ability to decipher and integrate a variety of inputs including copy and data
