DESCRIPTIONJob summaryAmazon is seeking a highly-intelligent, high-judgement, and self-motivated PR professional to join our North America Sustainability PR team. You will be responsible for creating and executing PR plans and strategy in support of Amazon’s work building sustainability into its transportation and operations network. Specifically, you will focus on proactive storytelling; issues and crisis management; big idea thinking and campaign development; writing press releases, blog posts and Q&As; and supporting thought leadership activity. You should be able to work autonomously as well as with a team, coordinating with various internal stakeholders and partners around the world – as well as with external agencies. You should be able to move fast with high standards, be a self-starter, detail oriented, have the ability to dive deep on complex topics and actively look around corners.Key job responsibilities• Develop and execute strategic public relations programs for new moments and ongoing storytelling in support Amazon’s sustainable transportation and operations network.• Work closely with Amazon’s transportation and operations team as well as with partner PR teams in the US and EMEA to build messaging, campaigns and strategy.• Develop and leverage relationships with national business, tech, and sustainability focused press to generate accurate and positive coverage.• Manage external PR agencies on strategy and tactics.• Potential to act as a spokesperson on behalf of Amazon.• Train and manage internal spokespeople at all levels for external-facing engagements.• Deliver strategic communications counsel to Amazon executives on both short-and-long-term challenges and opportunities.• Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges, both proactively and reactively.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS• Bachelor’s degree.• 7+ years of experience working in Public Relations or communications.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS• Background and experience in sustainability, transportation or corporate communications.• Crisis communications and issues management experience.• The ability to self-motivate, work autonomously at times and roll up their sleeves to get the job done.• Outstanding attention to detail and bias for action.• Standards so high most people would find them unreasonable.• Thrives in a collaborative environment with experience working on large or global teams.• Solid judgment and ability to make decisions in real-time.• Executive thought leadership experience.Inclusive Team Culture Here at Amazon, we embrace our differences.
