As part of the Open Source Program Office (OSPO) within Capital One, you'll be responsible for driving process improvements on the open source software usage, contributing to external open source projects and creating and launching external open source projects.



Technology Managers in OSPO have a high level of exposure across lines of business and lines of defense and have the opportunity to work with distinguished engineers and executives to create and implement innovative solutions to appropriately manage risks within the organization. The ideal candidate will be a highly-motivated process management professional with excellent process improvement and communication skills. The candidate will be detail-oriented and results focused, and will have a proven record of problem solving and collaborating with others.



General Responsibilities:

Incorporate improved open source standard and governance models into SDLC framework


Identify and cultivate strategic relationships with current and potential partners in the context of leading Open Source projects sponsored by Capital One


Driving process improvements by using a well balanced set of measures with desired outcomes.


Analyzing, identifying, and correcting data issues with systems used or owned by a department


Planning, preparing, and hosting technical support forums such as brown bags, office hours, and email correspondence intended to accelerate remediation across a diverse set of Engineers and IT Professionals


Providing subject matter expertise on processes when representing the department in projects and other meetings


Collaborates with software engineers, cyber, legal and risk partners to design and implement controls


Supports regulatory exams, internal audits, and remediation efforts within our business partners’ organizations


Proactively identify risks, trends, and process improvements


Learning and grasping concepts supporting software engineering practices (e.g. Open Source Technology, DevSecOps, Continuous Integration, Containers, Kubernetes and Cloud Native technologies)


Solid understanding of Security and license issues with using Open Source Software, contributing upstream and launching new open source projects.









Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience


At least 6 years of experience in Management Consulting, Process Management, or Information Technology Project Management


At least 4 years of experience in the Software Development Life Cycle





Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree


LEAN or Six Sigma Certification


5+ years experience in the Software Development Life Cycle


4+ years of experience collaborating with teams following an Agile methodology (Scrum or Kanban)
