Our Sam's Club Data Engineering team is part of Sam's Club tech team. We build technology to provide real time metrics and governed data for Merchants, associates, and other business stakeholders. We build out complex data workflows using Spark, GPU, Python, Scala and other technologies to process hundreds of billions of transactions everyday.

As Sr Manager II of Data Engineering, you are managing a large Engineering team building scalable, highly-available, enterprise-grade data flows for Sam's Club and accountable for the highest levels of service performance for the data flows with the highest level of "in-flow" quality metrics
You will lead and inspire your teams while effectively prioritizing work and maintaining a strong customer focus to create business value while putting processes in-place to ensure successful outcomes.

You will find ways to deliver incremental value while solving tactical problems strategically.
You have strong internal Data Engineering mindset that achieves automation and internal improvements while meeting customer requirements.

We build out complex data workflows using Spark, GPU, Python, Scala and other technologies to process hundreds of billions of transactions everyday .
You'll make an impact by
Demonstrating a combination of strong technical, people, and operational skills and a platform mindset and have a track record of using data to drive continual improvement.
Partnering effectively and building consensus with multiple stakeholders, including Business, Product, Data Governance, Data Strategy, Platforms, Data Science and other Engineering teams.
Proven experience in driving cloud based data lake and data warehouse strategy.
Driving engineering excellence by measuring and monitoring the actual performance of system SLAs and OLA's.
Quantifying opportunities and measuring the quality, performance, and business impact of our solutions and use data to inform prioritization and operations.
Expert-level technical skills and a proven track record of leading teams that build maintain architectures that are highly scalable, performant, and reliable.
Solid understanding of scalable systems architectures.
High-volume, low latency data processing for real time and batch data.
Big Data
Spark/Scala and PySpark
GPU
Proven experience in driving service quality, stability, and performance
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
Must have strong stakeholder management and ability to inspire and influence your team members.
Your Responsibility
Architect, Design, build, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting millions of customers worldwide drive value from data
Interact with Sams Club engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome product features to keep platform ahead of market scenarios.
Identify right open-source tools to deliver product features by performing research, POC/Pilot and/or interacting with various open-source forums
Develop and/or contribute to add features that enable adoption of data across Sam's club
Deploy and monitor products on Cloud platforms
Develop and implement best-in-class monitoring processes to enable data applications meet SLAs
Guide the team technically for end-to-end solution lifecycle.

Your Qualifications
3 - 5 years of people management experience
7-10 years of Big data development experience
2 -3 Years of Experience in GCP/Azure cloud platforms
2 -3 years of experience building streaming pipeline using spark streaming or similar.
Demonstrates up-to-date expertise in Data Engineering, complex data pipeline development.
Architectural Design, develop, implement and tune distributed data processing pipelines that process large volume of data; focusing on scalability, low -latency, and fault-tolerance in every system built.
Exposure to Data Governance (Data Quality, Metadata Management, Security, etc.)
Experience with Java, Scala and/or Python to write data pipelines and data processing layers.
Demonstrates expertise in writing complex, highly optimized queries across large data sets
Proven working expertise with Big Data Technologies Spark Scala/PySpark, and SQL
Knowledge and experience in Kafka, Storm, Druid and Presto.

Minimum Qualifications...

As permitted by applicable law, provide evidence of full vaccination as defined by CDC guidelines OR secure approval of medical or religious accommodation for the vaccination mandate., Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 5 years' experience in software engineering or related field. Option 2: 7 years' experience in software engineering or related field. Option 3: Master's degree in Computer Science and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related field.
4 years' experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics.
1 year's supervisory experience.
