Below are the expected responsibilities for the Instructional Designer and Communication Analyst at FLEETCOR. Each responsibility is integral to the success of the Training Team, Customer Service, and the business.

The Instructional Designer and Communication Analyst is required to maintain relationships with a wide range of interested parties on the team (Management, Subject Matter Experts, and Support Teams) with the least amount of friction as possible. This role would require enormous amounts of communication of all kinds (writing, speaking, listening, presenting) as this job essentially personifies "collaboration" to keep teams running as well-oiled machines, implementing decisions after thorough discussions, and managing people where their roles entwine.

The Instructional Designer and Communication Analyst needs to wear multiple hats, playing the role of facilitator, innovator, researcher, and developer. They work with other departments and subject matter experts to develop learning objectives, complete need assessments, and design programs. The Instructional Designer and Communication Analyst will select and use a variety of techniques to define and develop instructional materials, leveraging available technology to deliver. At times, they need to use creative, outside-the-box methods to meet business needs



  • Conduct a needs assessment to determine the appropriate need for the business request.After proper evaluation, determine the information to be shared, the method for sharing (training, job aid, team huddle, email, etc.), deliver to the correct audience and update the relevant training manuals as needed.
  • Role may require both instructional design/content, internal and external communications, product release information, as well as simple technical documentation.
  • If offline training is required, develop the training and ensure documentation is suitable for the pertinent training manual.
  • Design a curriculum or department program by using Web-based learning, Instructor-led training, Virtual classroom training, Guides (such as job aids, quick reference guides, infographics) and blended solutions.
  • Select and use a variety of techniques to define and sequence the instructional content and strategies.
  • Manages the design and works with the training team in the implementation of instructional material and programs in a corporate and consultative setting that reflects an understanding of the diversity of the learner.
  • Promote collaboration, partnerships, and relationships among the participants in a design project.
  • Design a standard process for training material that includes variations of approach to suit all learning styles that include exercises, activities, discussions, role-plays, etc.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the Customer Solution Center knowledge management tool.
  • Create and deliver communication including but not limited to department-wide announcements, weekly newsletters.
  • Facilitate product launches and new releases through e-learning content and knowledge management updates, or other outlets as needed.
  • Act as the Communication Expert, using email, alerts, knowledge center, and other programs as needed to communicate important information for teams as needed.
  • Create a feedback channel for staff to request future communication content.
  • Employ influential people skills, including but not limited to the ability to facilitate meetings and handle both ambiguity and constant change within the team and with other departments.
  • Deliver on time and within an efforts-estimate budget.
  • Conduct a post-training review to assess the curriculum and training effectiveness.
  • Proactively seek and strive for professional growth to increase the effectiveness of skill sets.
  • Engage and directly support communication needs when Customer Experience issues arise (mostly internal).

  • The potential candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or ability required.
  • Proficiency in eLearning platforms (example: Lessonly) and knowledge library & search platform (example: Salesforce)
  • Able to effectively interact directly with clients.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Proactive at obtaining knowledge or networking to gain an understanding of processes and answers.
  • Able to meet deadlines and time estimates.
  • Experience developing instructor-led and web-based courseware.
  • Able to work with a variety of topics.
  • Must be detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple assignments promptly and effectively while employing strong attention quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work calmly in a fast-paced team environment while effectively managing various projects.
  • Able to work with varying software as provided.
  • Think outside the box and creatively.
  • Capable of taking feedback and applying to design.
  • Demonstrate excellent MS Office skills, Adobe Captivate, Storyline and or any other LMS system.
  • Work both independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Adapt to fast changes with a quick turnaround of projects.
