Job Summary:

The Senior Server / Cloud Engineer will, under minimal supervision, be responsible for designing, supporting, managing, and maintaining all aspects of the corporate server and cloud infrastructure. In addition, this position responds to direct inquiries from users on subjects of server connectivity and performance issues. This position functions as part of a small corporate team performing critical engineering and support tasks that ensure Hudson Technologies' server and cloud environments are available and performing effectively.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

§ Work as part of a small corporate team providing technical support for Hudson's regionally distributed Windows Server, Windows desktops, Windows Active Directory, MS Azure, VMware ESXi, Office 365 and hosted private cloud environments.

§ Responsible for all server related systems within the corporate environment. Lead server engineer, responsible for setting server standards, building servers, creating server management scripts, and evaluating server related technologies.

§ Manage companywide server system deployment and improvement projects

§ Design, implement and maintain processes geared towards improving IT systems management

§ Maintain and develop documentation related to server standards, server application installations, troubleshooting tips, and server security standards. Maintain inventory of equipment configuration and OS levels.

§ Configure and deploy server systems regionally

§ Manage server support automation via scripting (batch scripts / PowerShell, etc.)

§ Respond to requests regarding server connectivity and performance problems. Troubleshoot and resolve issues. Contact and interact with vendors regarding maintenance and support.

§ Manage external server and cloud vendor relationships

§ Maintain and manage server performance using available tools to optimize system availability and resolve issues

§ Analyze user needs, server issues, system capacity and other data to proactively maintain the corporate server environment. Coordinate server related moves/adds/changes as required.

§ Test and evaluate new sever and cloud technologies and applications as needed. Make recommendations to management.

§ Effectively communicate technical standards, policies, and procedures to end-user community

§ Monitor global server environment and advise management on system misuse and potential abuse

§ Act as an escalation point for IT team members for issues related to the company wide server and cloud environment

 

Required / Desired Knowledge, Experiences and Skills:

§ 5 - 10 years of experience engineering solutions for Server operating systems such as Windows Server and VMware EXSi is required.

§ 5 -10 years of experience working with Windows Server Operating Systems and Active Directory in a distributed environment is required.

§ Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP and general networking is required.

§ 10 years of technical and troubleshooting experience working Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems is required.

§ Azure administration/platform experience in an enterprise environment.

§ Hands On experience on Azure Services like VM, Storage, ServiceBus, Stream Analytics, Eventhub, Private Endpoints, Virtual Networks, Express Route, ASE, Functions, Keyvault

§ Experience with the Azure continuous integration and continuous delivery CI/CD pipeline a big plus

§ Experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks a plus

§ Experience administering Microsoft Dynamic 365 on Azure a big plus

§ Team leadership experience required

§ Strong project management skills required

§ Experience documenting IT processes and standards is a must

§ Experience with Dell PowerEdge servers and Dell EMC SANS required

§ Strong working knowledge of LAN and WAN connectivity issues and support in a Windows Server, Active Directory environment is required.

§ Knowledge of VMWare server virtualization products required

§ Knowledge of Red Enterprise Linux is a plus

§ Experience managing systems using Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy Objects (GPOs) is required.

§ Experience working in a large Enterprise AD Forest with Multiple Child Domain environment preferred.

§ Ability to troubleshoot issues remotely. Ability to work directly with end users when troubleshooting is a must.

§ Multi-location support experience and good organizational skills are required.

§ This position directly impacts the availability of all production systems globally so 24 x 7 on-call support and a willingness to work off-hours and weekends is required.

Education:

§ Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Computer Science is required.
