Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) is the advocacy and political arm of PPFA.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund seeks a Senior Creative Director to lead branded initiatives, creative campaigns and strategies and manage our internal team. She/he/they will work within the Brand & Culture team to identify creative needs; produce branded content that is innovative, inspiring and strategic; develop creative strategies for health care campaigns, integrating marketing efforts, brand storytelling, cultural or political activations; and guide brand content for our national office and in service of our patients/advocates/affiliates. This job reports to the VP of Brand & Culture Strategy in the Communications division of PPFA.
Purpose
Create on-brand creative campaigns, strategies, content, and concepts in response to organizational priorities and goals
Direct the execution of brand-first, impactful and strategic creative assets, across a range of media, including digital, print, merchandise, video and motion
Lead and inspire an internal team of (14), including creative directors, graphic designers, producers, animators to concept and execute high-quality creative
Manage agency vendors, partners, and production companies to create and evolve integrated content and campaigns
Directly supervise (2) creative directors (health care/education & advocacy) and (1) video production director, providing thought partnership, mentorship, and support on key initiatives and leadership of the internal team
Absorb key insights from strategic briefs and translate them (with team and/or vendors) into on-brand creative strategies and concepts, incorporating feedback and insights from stakeholders, presenting work, and ensuring approvals and consensus around creative content and distribution strategies
Present creative concepts to stakeholders across the organization and ensure engagement and alignment on ideas
Ensure Planned Parenthood’s visual identity and brand guidelines evolve regularly and are adopted widely throughout the Federation
Oversee the departmental budget in close collaboration with the Creative leads, VP of Brand & Culture Strategy, and operational staff

Work closely with leadership and stakeholders to support affiliate and national creative initiatives and campaigns
Work closely with Editorial team to develop concepts, narratives, and external-facing messaging
Identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, and collaboration
Champion the brand
Navigate the ever-changing needs of a complex, multifaceted organization
Keep abreast of the latest creative trends, bringing those inspirations to the team
Ability to adjust priorities as often as needed
Ability to clearly articulate brand and creative strategy and thinking to senior leadership, stakeholders, colleagues, and affiliates
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
12+ years experience in a creative leadership role, with at least 5+ years managing a team of creative staff
Possess a strong creative portfolio, including examples of brand campaign and video work
Ability to develop creative solutions across different mediums including print, video, digital, experiential, and event
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and knowledge of project management software (Asana)
Proven experience representing and reaching BIPOC communities, young people, and LGBTQ+ audiences
Experience managing through a lens of diversity, equity and inclusion
Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Collaborative spirit, diplomatic work style, and solutions-focused attitude
Passion for and understanding of the mission of PPFA/PPAF
Nice to Haves
Experience with health care campaigns
Experience with purpose-driven, advocacy-focused creative that engages audiences and drives action
Experience working in/or for a non-profit federated model or franchise brand
Agency experience
Experience working within and shaping brand guidelines
Experience creative directing video & photo shoots, as well as branded, paid and long form brand storytelling content
Travel
10%
Starting salary: $160K
Final offers for this job will be based on capabilities and will be made within the parameters of the PPFA compensation program. Total offer package to include generous vacation + sick leave + paid holidays, individual/family provided medical, dental and vision benefits effective day 1, life insurance, short/long term disability, paid family leave and 401k.
