Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest (GIPNW) inspires all girls, ages 6-18, to be strongsmart, and bold. We seek a Girls Group Program Coordinator to coordinate and oversee our Girls Groups programs in the Seattle and Tacoma area. The Girls Group Program Coordinator will primarily support the development and oversight of year-round Girls Inc. programming delivery, including development and coordination of girls’ workshops and enrichment opportunities, Girls Inc. events,  and supervising Staff Facilitators. The Girls Group Program Coordinator will work with multiple schools and partners to recruit girls into the program and specify program curriculum and implementation to each partner’s needs.


Currently, we plan and coordinate hybrid, virtual, and in-person programmatic activities. In Fall 2022, this role will also feature in person programming in accordance with school district guidelines and in response to changing safety and health policies and procedures. Hybrid program delivery consists of online virtual programmatic activities staffed by this role, and also in-person programmatic activities hosted at our physical locations. Girls Inc. PNW prioritizes the health and safety of all our staff and youth during programming, and we update our COVID safety protocols in alignment with state and CDC guidelines at each new stage of the pandemic.

Location

GIPNW serves girls in the Portland metropolitan area, SW Washington, Tacoma, and Seattle. This role is for the greater Seattle area, and other local Girls Groups program coordination. 


Reporting Structure & Oversight

The position focuses on program coordination and reports to the Girls Groups Program Manager. 

This role supervises Staff Facilitators. 


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of programming, including communication with partners, coordination of supply preparation, curriculum development and other group/site specific resources for facilitators.
  • Ensure strong recruitment and retention of girls enrolled in programming; Identify and execute outreach opportunities, including but not limited to work with school district personnel, school staff, and other partners to promote programs and table at events.
  • Identify, create, and refine Girls Group curriculum and activities.
  • Coordinate program duties and implementation across multiple sites, multiple curriculums, and varying school models.
  • Build key connections and relationships with Seattle-based partners, school, communities and families 
  • Assist with the hiring, training, and supervision of Volunteers and Staff Facilitators.
  • Maintain frequent programming communication with participants and families. 
  • Connect families to programming and other enrichment efforts.
  • Collect, track, and enter relevant program data, e.g., enrollment forms, demographic information, and survey administration.
  • Coordinate and plan monthly workshops, program activities and outputs, other events as needed.
  • Support with completing various administrative, research and special events projects as needed
  • Run groups and programming at sites when necessary. 
  • Perform other duties as needed to assist with the overall mission of the organization.


Equipment & Work Conditions

  • Program Coordinators must furnish their own cell phone to perform the duties of this role. 
  • Program Coordinators may also utilize the organization’s office to perform virtual sessions and conduct regular office business. 
  • A monthly stipend for broadband and/or cellular costs will be disbursed.
  • Materials for all programmatic activities will be prepared and furnished by the organization. 
  • A Use of Personal Equipment Policy will be provided to support the duties of this role. 


Schedule

  • M-F 9 AM to 5 PM are normal organizational operational hours; this position requires occasional evening and weekend work which is pre-communicated and scheduled. 
  • Correct flexible scheduling outside of normal operational hours will be supported and supervised


The Ideal Candidate

  • Interested in developing an understanding of Girls Inc. curricula series and associated Positive Youth Development principles
  • Knowledgeable about best-practices in group facilitation and quality youth development programming
  • Able to seamlessly balance coordination of multiple sites across the service area of Seattle and Tacoma.
  • Good communicator and detail-oriented
  • Committed to strength-based and culturally responsive practices
  • Understanding of the various barriers girls face related to navigating K-12 education, post-secondary readiness and career readiness and understands barriers experienced by girls and youth in under-served communities
  • Has previous experience working with diverse populations
  • Understands local trends related to the delivery of culturally responsive programming
  • Flexible, independent, warm, strong organizational skills, capacity to problem solve and team-minded
  • Has experience working with transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive youth.
  • Have an understanding and work with a trauma informed lens
  • Willingness to receive training and drive 15-passenger vehicle


Education, Training and Experience, Other Relevant Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years of experience working with groups of youth as a facilitator and a minimum of 2 years of coordination, implementation of youth programming and/or project management
  • One-year relevant experience supervising volunteers and/or employees
  • Relevant experience in gender-specific and/or experiential programming highly desirable
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and sites seamlessly and to delegate effectively
  • Highly detailed and adept at cross team collaboration with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with hybrid workforce and distanced management structure
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to proactively identify issues and generate creative solutions
  • Commitment to strength-based individual and group work
  • Knowledge of culturally competent practices
  • Post-secondary education/degree in a social science, youth development, education or related field preferred but not required
  • Willingness to have a flexible schedule, e.g. weeknight and weekend availability required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and a reliable vehicle (driving is required for this position once in-person programming resumes)
  • Familiar with Google Suite, Zoom, and technologically savvy 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Must pass a criminal background check

Salary, Benefits, & Work Classification

The salary is $50,000 annually.
