It has been established that 'poor service, not a food product, is the reason most cited by disgruntled customers for failure to return.' Remember that only a small percentage of unhappy customers will complain; however, they will inform, on average, ten friends of their less than satisfactory experience.  Our goal at Goodstone is not only to provide exceptional customer service but to exceed every individual's expectations of a positive dining experience.   • Server can take orders and handle all food and beverage requests using suggestive selling techniques.
  • Server can relay requests and food orders to the kitchen.
  • Server has basic computer skills and can accurately input data to the kitchen and bar areas.
  • Server is well versed in wine, varietals, and food and wine pairings.
  • Server is aware of proper etiquette and criteria for rendering service in a five-star property.
  • Server is aware of the Forbes Criteria and Standards of Service.
  • Server can take instructions and suggestions from the management team and work in an organized and disciplined manner.
  • Server keeps all work areas clean and maintains all server stations throughout the shift.
  • The dining room is set up appropriately for service and adjusted whenever necessary.
  • Server is well-spoken, knowledgeable, and avoids slang, phrase fragments, or overly familiar verbiage.
  • Server can answer menu or wine list questions and respond positively to other food or beverage service requests.
  • Server must be aware of other services offered in the Inn and its history and special offerings.
  • Server should be aware of the area surrounding Middleburg and be able to answer questions or suggest possible outings to guests.
  • Server assists in clearing all tables and maintaining a perfect tabletop throughout the meal.
  • Server assists all other personnel in the Inn whenever necessary.
  • Server should be efficient, knowledgeable, sincere, dependable, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic. A positive attitude is a desirable attribute.
  • In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of other supportive parts, as determined by any F&B Manager based on the particular requirements of the Inn.
  • Other duties include cleaning unexpected spills and executing special guest requests.
 Preferred Education and Experience:  
  • High School diploma or General Education degree.
  • A minimum of 2 years of fine-dining experience.
  • Maturity and the ability to perform well under pressure are required.
 Job Type: Full-time :  Must be able to work a varied schedule, including AM, Mid, and PM shifts, weekdays, weekends, holidays Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional hospitality environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

  • Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with last-minute room changes
  • Must be able to work inside and out, in all weather conditions

 Physical Demands: An employee must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently expected to stand for long periods; walk; climb stairs comfortably; use hands to finger; handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; requires the ability to lift products and supplies of up to 50 pounds occasionally. 
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for at least 6 hours.
  • Must exert well-paced ability in limited space and maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
  • You may be required to lift and carry trays of food or items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend and lift 40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis and occasionally lift to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to squat, stoop and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment, including, but not limited to, cutlery used in the cutting of fruit.
