This role will work with the Art Director and project leads to visualize and bring to life realistic high-end 3D content for a new form of virtual experiences and cinematics. You have the artist mindset to continue growing and expanding your creativity along with a multi-disciplinary team of like-minded creatives. You have an eye for design and deep technical knowledge of bringing that vision to life for Extended Reality and Cinematic. You’ll assist in establishing the guidelines, processes, standards, and tools required to build and maintain a heavy content pipeline. Our team offers an exciting opportunity for candidates with a top-notch proficiency in modeling, texturing, lighting, shaders and an established background in creative problem-solving. You will be working at our in-house development studio in Richmond, VA.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities
● Explore and develop the ever-evolving pipeline of 3D computer vision and machine learning research and development efforts.
● Effectively collaborate with experienced directors, designers, developers, and engineers to ensure that technical art vision is serving project needs.
● The candidate will create 3D assets, environments, characters, hard surfaces, and textured PBR materials for web-based XR, real-time applications, and photorealistic 2D rendering applications.
● Maintain consistently high standards for accuracy, aesthetics, and productivity
● Continuously improve workflows and processes.Required SkillsExperience
● 3+ years of experience in either the game, film, or research industries in either Artist or Technical Artist roles
● Experience communicating in a multi-disciplinary team, including engineers, artists, and designers
● Experience with one or more commercial game engines (e.g. Unreal or Unity)
● Knowledge of 3D modeling and asset creation packages like Maya, Houdini, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, ZBrush, Knald, Marmoset, Photoshop, etc.
● Generalist knowledge in skills such as modeling, texturing, lighting, animation, physics and particle systems
● An excellent eye for design and understanding of the basics of art/ design theories
● Ability to mentor/train other artists on the production floor
● Share best practices, identify process improvements and operational waste reduction.
● Able to contribute to, interpret, and communicate art direction to a team
● Self-motivation, good communication skills, and a great team-player attitude
● A passion for virtual production and creating interactive experiences
● Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle large workloads efficiently
● Excellent communication skills, being able to communicate ideas and critiques through different disciplines
● Proactive about making things happen and a drive to continue developing as an artist.
● Desire and ability to put in the time and effort necessary to make a product great.
● Bachelor’s degree in related fields or equivalent work experience

Plus
● Knowledge and experience with converting LIDAR point cloud and photogrammetry data into mesh
● Experience using Zwrap along with 3D scans and XYZ Textures workflow
● Professional content development experience, including shipping one or more titles
● Virtual Reality experience
● Shader development experience
● Experience working in a variety of graphic styles
