Cook: Part-Time, Day Shift – Lakeview
Fleet Landing is hiring a cook for the Lakeview location as a Day Shift, Part-Time position in the Fleet Landing facility.

Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Cook whose primary responsibility is to prepare a wide variety of hot and cold menu items specifically crafted for each of our dining concepts to include fine dining, fast-casual, grab & go, health services, and catering.  The cook should have proven technical skills demonstrating his or her ability to deliver finished products from scratch and batch cooking methods. This person should have strong demonstrated knowledge of cooking fundamentals, time management, and be proficient in various cooking techniques with a focus on quality and presentation.

Lakeview is Fleet Landings' premier dining destination, showcasing its diverse, chef-inspired menu with house-made soups, made-to-order appetizers, ala minute entrees, and elegantly plated desserts. This 160-seat upscale restaurant features picturesque views of our lake Constellation and the natural beauty of our 125-acre wooded preserve-like campus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients
  • Bake, grill, steam, and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other foods
  • Present, garnish and arrange final dishes
  • Occasionally serve food
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment, and dishes
  • Handle and store ingredients and food
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Taking pride in your appearance, the ability to keep your uniform and workstation clean in a consistent manner is key.
  • Follow all established safety procedures and precautions. Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, and/or defective equipment to the Lead or Executive Chef. Report all incidents/accidents, no matter how minor, to the Manager.
  • Perform cleaning duties on a daily basis, as well as scheduled cleaning duties.
  • Assist in properly storing incoming baking & pastry products as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education Required:
High school education is preferred. Must be able to read, write, speak English, and follow written and oral directions. Technical or vocation training is preferred but not required

Experience:
Three (2) to five (4) years of proficient experience in working with a baking team with a proven track record of success.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, including safe temperatures at which ingredients must be kept and to which food must be prepared to avoid foodborne illness
  • Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating on complex dishes
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with a variety of other people, such as waitstaff, dishwashers, management, and sometimes customers
  • Calm demeanor to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment 
  • Accountability for the dishes they prepare measures up to the expectations of management and customers alike
  • Comprehension and organization to follow direct orders and recipes and to correctly prepare dishes to the standards of the restaurant
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools, such as knife techniques for chopping, slicing, cutting, and dicing
  • Ability to stand in one place for hours at a time, handle extreme heat, and work shifts
