Overview of Student Life Coordinator The Office of Student Life at Purdue University Northwest is seeking a Student Life Coordinator! The primary role of the Student life coordinator is to create, manage, and develop comprehensive student programs and activities that foster student engagement and create a vibrant campus life, and ensure continued acclimation and connection to PNW campus community. Also, assisting in the development and implementation of student leadership programming. This position works to enhance a growing sense of community by fostering students' awareness and appreciation for involvement in activities focused on personal growth and development. Duties of Student Life Coordinator Plans and executes student programming initiatives tailored to PNW students, including but not limited to social, cultural, developmental activities, civic engagement, service-learning, student organizations, and identity-based programming support for minority and/or marginalized students Coordinates and manages registered student organizations and supports the development of new RSOs. Act as liaison between students, student organizations, administrative staff, faculty, vendors, and community members to facilitate the success of inclusive student life programs and initiatives Work independently and with Marketing & Communications team to develop marketing materials, and implement communication plans to promote awareness participation at events Recruit, select, train, and monitor the performance of student programming assistants, and help coordinate a staff-level student engagement advisory board Other duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned to support student engagement initiatives, the Assistant Director of Student Engagement, and the growth/expansion/transition of the Office of Student Life Experience of Student Life Coordinator Two years of experience working with students or student organizations/activities. Work experience in higher education, and knowledge of Purdue University Northwest policies and student organization and leadership development knowledge is preferred. Core Competencies of Student Life Coordinator Ability to plan, manage, and implement intentionally developed programming initiatives that foster inclusivity and promote engagement for all PNW students and student organizations. Strong customer service skills and ability to comfortably work with, support, and engage students from diverse backgrounds. Energetic, outgoing self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload, make decisions and meet deadlines. Work individually or as part of a team. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with students, student organizations, faculty, staff, and community partners. Ability to calmly adapt to changing situations. Must be able to solve problems with minimal supervision. Ability to recruit, select, train, and monitor the performance of student programming assistants.
