Director, Accounting & Finance for a 30 employee (and growing) remote education non-profit providing professional learning to K-12 educators nationallySUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Director, Accounting & Finance collaborates with the CFO to lead financial strategic planning, manage financial operations, assess financial performance, and evaluate possible risks to maintain the organizations overall financial health. As a rapidly growing nonprofit, we seek an experienced accounting and financial professional who is excited about leading our organization towards profitability and long-term impact. Eligible candidates must demonstrate sound financial planning experience and hold broad knowledge of nonprofit accounting, financial, and business principles. Ideal candidates will also possess strong analytical skills, exceptional strategic thinking capabilities, have an eye for designing efficient processes and systems, are driven and proactive, have stellar communication skills, and can manage up as needed to execute on strategies. To learn more about Teaching Lab, explore our website at DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Director, Accounting & Finance will engage in the following:Collaborating with the CEO and Executive Team (including financial consultants and CFO) to engage in financial strategic planning, create Teaching Labs financial strategic plan; implement financial strategic planAnalyzing and reporting on financial performance in Teaching Labs CRM, Oracle NetsuiteLeading bottom-up budgeting process and finalizing Teaching Labs annual budget with the Executive Team and Board of DirectorsConducting financial forecasting to advise Executive Team on staffing and other resource allocation decisionsPreparing monthly financial updates and annual comprehensive budgets at the organizational and departmental-level for internal and external audiences (e.g., Executive Team, Board of Directors, funders, and auditors)Leading Board of Director finance committee and support them in reviewing Teaching Lab financials and in making high-stakes financial decisionsAnalyzing and reconciling accounts receivable and accounts billable; managing staff to follow up on outstanding accountsLeading annual financial auditing process with an external auditing firmPartnering with Executive Team to determine our business development strategies, including identifying opportunities and risksRecommending, obtaining, and implementing budgeting softwareStewarding the integration of finance, human resources, and operational processes and strategiesQUALIFICATIONSEducation, Work Experience, and KnowledgeBachelors degree in Accounting or Finance, or in a similar field, like Business Management5 years of proven experience in financial management and/or business developmentBroad knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), laws, and best practices for nonprofit organizationsSolid knowledge of financial analysis and forecastingProficiency with Oracle Netsuite CRM, or similar systemBackground in education is not necessary, but must be curious about topics in PK-12 education and committed to advancing educational equityExperience in an entrepreneurial role or startup organization (preferred)Values, Skills, and CompetenciesStrong commitment to Teaching Labs organizational mission and racial equity values in pursuit of educational equityBig picture strategic thinking teamed with the ability to implement tactically and take an idea from concept to completionAnalytical mindset with the ability to set goals and create strategies that are informed by data and researchComfort with ambiguity and ability to succeed in a highly entrepreneurial and dynamic organizationUnderstands how to leverage senior leaders and Board members to execute on strategies; competence in working across functions and managing up, as neededAbility to communicate effectively about the financial state and strategy of the organization and justify financial recommendationsCollaborative and highly flexible approach, having the ability and desire to both lead and support other staff members effortsStrong attention to detail; organized and systematic and capable of balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentTO APPLYYou can apply for the Director, Accounting & Finance role here.
